Location. The opulent 19th-century Grand Hotel Oslo is located in central Oslo, Norway, opposite the Parliament building. The National Gallery is within 500 metres. The Akershus Festning (fortress) and Munch Museum are 1.5 kilometres away, while Norsk Folkemuseum (Museum of Cultural History)is three kilometres away.
Hotel Features. A white granite facade with clock tower fronts the Louis XVI style Grand Hotel Oslo. There is a 24-hour front desk, currency exchange, gift shop and hair salon on site.

The Grand Café, filled with plush leather seats and modern artwork, serves Scandinavian dishes with Mediterranean touches. Gourmet French and Scandinavian cuisine is on the menu at the Julius Fritzner restaurant. The informal Palmen atrium restaurant serves light meals throughout the day. Offering panoramic views of the city, the Etoile Bar also spreads out onto an outdoor terrace in summer. The English-style Limelight Bar is open for snacks and aperitifs. A complimentary buffet breakfast is served daily at the Grand Hotel Oslo.

Up to 750 guests can be accommodated in the Ballroom, while 15 conference rooms cater for up to 300 people. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas.

The hotel's wellness centre has a heated indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and solarium. The adjoining beauty spa offers a range of massages and beauty treatments.

Guestrooms. The hotel's 289 air- conditioned guestrooms are individually decorated with antique-style furniture and rich fabrics. Features include cable televisions, minibars, safes and wireless Internet access. Ensuite bathrooms have bathrobes and slippers. Please note that the hotel's pool and spa area are temporarily closed. From Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL):
Distance to Grand Hotel Oslo is 45 kilometres, approximately 35 minutes' drive.

Getting there. Taxis wait outside the Arrivals hall, and the fare to the city centre is approximately 500 NOK-900 NOK, depending on the number of passengers and the time of day. The Airport Express train runs every 10-20 minutes for the train station in Oslo city centre, and the fare is 160 NOK for a single ticket. Trains go from the airport to Lillehammer, Skien, and Trondheim. The SAS Airport bus leaves for Oslo every 20 minutes, and night buses are available. The journey time is approximately 35 minutes and single tickets cost 120 NOK. Coaches and buses run to other destinations throughout the city and the rest of Norway. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. The Grand Hotel Oslo is on Karl Johansgate, opposite the Parliament Buildings. Oslo's efficient public transport network includes buses, trams, trains and an underground (T-Bane) system. Ferries run between Oslo city hall and Bygdoy Island from April to October. Taxis are available but very expensive. The hotel has a secure car park (surcharge).

Driving directions. From Oslo Gardermoen Airport:
Take the E6 towards Oslo city centre (sentrum).
Follow signs for the Parliament (Stortinget) on Karl Johansgate.
The hotel is opposite the Parliament building.
