The CenterHotel Skjaldbreid is a traditional property, located on the lively shopping street of Laugavegur, in the city's old town area. The 33 guestrooms feature contemporary decor with light wood furnishings. All offer high-speed Internet access, direct- dial telephones, satellite television and minibars. Bathrooms have hair dryers and handheld showers.
The hotel's Vegamot Bar and Bistro serves fresh fish dishes in a Mediterranean-style environment, and is open daily for lunch and dinner. During the summer months the sheltered terrace is available for outdoor dining. Guests can also enjoy coffees and drinks throughout the day, and can relax in the third floor atrium breakfast room, where a daily complimentary breakfast is also offered. The multilingual staff at the 24-hour front desk can assist with local information and tour guidance; there is also a computer there with complimentary Internet. Other hotel amenities include room service, a town car service, dry cleaning and airport transport. Drivers can make use of nearby parking. The hotel is close to many of the city's main attractions; the Icelandic National Theatre and Opera House are just 50 metres away, and guests can also visit the harbour, 150 metres away, where it is possible to take boat and whale watching trips. Hallgrims Church, with views of the city, and the National Parliament are both 100 metres from the hotel. Reykjavik Keflavik Airport is 47 kilometres away, an approximate driving time of 45 minutes.

Bus services run to and from the airport in connection with arriving and departing flights. The Flybus services the hotel both to and from the airport; guests should notify the flybus driver or can book with the hotel's reception. The Flybus single fare is 1100 ISK. Taxis are available at the airport and can be booked from the hotel reception; there is no set rate and prices vary for a single journey. Getting around Reykjavik is easiest on the SVR bus system, which runs from seven AM to midnight daily. Bicycles can be used to negotiate the city's extensive network of cycle paths.
Driving directions: From the airport take the first right at the roundabout and continue in the direction of Hafnarfjordur. Follow signs for Reykjavik along the coast road Saebraut. Follow Saebraut until the left-hand turn onto Snorrabraut, then turn left up Snorrabraut, and turn right where Laugavegur Street intersects with Snorrabraut. Follow Laugavegur and the hotel is on the left.
