Centerhotel Arnarhvoll – Reykjavík

The reception staff were very friendly and helpfull. Our allocated room on arrival was called a small double, but as there was only one cup and one glass it was obviously a single room. They changed our room with no fuss and the new room was much better, larger and had a nice bathroom with a bath. Room had basic furniture, but very clean and adequate as we were out all day. The view from the rooftop breakfast room/restaurant was spectacular. The outside of the hotel was very austere, didn't really look like a hotal, but very nice inside. Overall very good value for money

I spent 5 nights at this hotel in early September 2009. I chose it after reading extensive reviews on Hotels.com and other websites and was extremely satisfied. It is well located for shopping, eating, and transportation. It's a 2 minute walk to the main shopping street. The staff was extremely helpful, responsive, and professional. Some of the other reviews had a different take, but in the 6 days I was there, I saw none of the negative behavior I saw described in other reviews. Regarding the restaurant staff not being helpful in selecting a good coffee shop, etc., most of these workers are not from Iceland, are not well-educated, speak only their native language well, and truly cannot be helpful in that regard. (This should be apparent from a casual observation.) A decided advantage of this hotel is location: close to all you want to see and do in Reykjavik, but far enough away from the main streets that you get a good and quiet night's sleep on Friday and Saturday nights (during the raucous "runtur" or pub crawl). Also, the spa in the basement with sauna, steam room, and soaking pool are a welcome relief after a day of walking and sightseeing. The views from the dining room are spectacular. A great hotel at a great location. I'll certainly return to Reykjavik and when I do, I'll stay here.

We stayed for three nights and had a room overlooking the harbor. Gorgeous views of the summer 'sunset' and morning sun. The windows are sound proof when closed but if open during the night you can hear cars passing on the main road. Service was good and rooms were cleaned well. Wet room/shower/bathroom was a bit funky especially when water got everywhere but a much better option than a yucky shower curtain sticking to you! There was a shampoo/shower gel dispenser no separate soap and shampoo/conditioner but the usual shoe mitt, shower cap and sewing kit surprisingly. The waffle bar (how cool is that?) at breakfast was one of the reasons I picked this hotel plus the short walk into town. It is also a short walk to the Grayline tour office and pick up point so no need to wait. We enjoyed the location. Overall, good quality for money.

You will hear the highway traffic. The room does not have a/c. The duvets are too warm for the summer. I floors are slate, so you will hear movement from above: avoid rooms on the top floors (just below the restaurant) because you will hear footsteps starting at 7 am. The front desk staff is friendly, but the restaurant staff is either overworked or simply rude. The hotel is located in a lifeless area between the highway and nondescript buildings, though the area is safe. I moved to another centrehotel closer to the action, near some loud bars, but I still preferred the new hotel over this one because of the carpeted floors and generally warmer feel.

Stayed at CenterHotel Arnarhvoll for 3 nights in July 2009.. They have a beautiful spa on the bottom floor (for an additional fee). The hotel is just off the main street which ensures a more quiet stay. The room was very comfortable but small... The continental breakfast was excellent

Hotels in Reykjavik are expensive and the Anarhvoll is no exception but I felt it met my expectations very nicely. The staff varied in terms of friendliness but were all helpful. The room was generally clean (except for my window which could have used some cleaning) and the bed was extremely comfortable. The immediate surroundings were a bit industrial for my taste but the Ahrnavoll was perfectly located in proximity to Reykjavik nightlife - just a safe 5 minutes walk north of the main nightlife area which made it close enough to be in easy reach but far enough away to avoid the noise of young revelers at 3AM. If I come to Reykjavik, will likely stay here again.

Good breakfast, nice beds and tvs, friendly front desk. The only major problem was the goofy shower without doors. Basically, the entire bathroom serves as the shower stall so put clothes on high ground. But, I would probably still recommend the hotel.

Well the bathroom is a bit small to take a shower AND...... then move a"glass door" to pup !!! Not enought space! Try to book a room with a bath. Breakfast eccelent!!!! Small but cozy ...The room give you a sense of "cold the floor esteticly", maybe the could put some kind of carpet ...but anyways I guess is the viking way!!!

Everything about this hotel was great and we had absolutely no complaints, the room and the view was amazing and we had a wonderful stay and will definately return.

Hotel was in very easy reach of the main shopping and tourism sights! plus good views of the harbour! Breakfast and restaurant were very good too! Excursions pick up from hotel which was very helpful!

Everything in Reykjavik is expensive. This hotel was one of the cheaper ones available in its class, and it was quite nice. Restaurant offers a great view of the bay.

Our stay at the Arnarhvoll was wonderful. The Staff was friendly and accommodating. Wonderful location, overlooking the harbor, and a short walk (3 blocks) to the main shopping area and lots of restaurants. The only negative comment is that we tried to contact the hotel directly, by FAX and email, before our trip and we didn't receive any answers. We would definitely stay here again!

overall nice hotel, very central with a beautiful view. However, the night reception is being guarded by a very eccentric Basil Fawlty type of guy, watch out for him..the ladies in the day time though were lovely

The Hotel is modern, clean, simple and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly and all in all it was good value for money

Service is excellent, warm reception, helpfull staff. Bed is excellent, even for a 2m tall person. Centrally located, and try the restaurant at the top floor. We had a corner room, which has stunning views accross the bay towards the mountains.

Meget bra service av betjeningen, renslig og ryddig. Lite fellesrom. Restauranten drevet av andre enn hotellet, men det var stor imøtekommenhet og meget god mat.

La chambre est propre, avec une jolie vue sur la baie. le petit déjeuné est varié avec du saumon fumé, du poisson mariné et du bacon, et des oeufs. bref, très bon petit déjeuner, chambre classique mais agréable. pas loin du centre ville tout se fait à pied sans souci.

Ett bra hotell med god service , allt man kan förvänta sig. Fina fräscha rum och god frukost med härlig utsikt. Ett riktigt bra standard hotel som ligger i centrum, med gångavstånd till det mesta.

de var hjælpsomme i receptionen, men ikke så skarpe - dog fandt vi løsninger på det meste fx en bus de havde sendt væk som kom tilbage efter mig, info om off busser samt pools. Begrænset turist guide viden + foldere. centralt placeret hotel, fantastisk udsigt og terrasse, god morgenmad og rimelige men små værelser m åbne hylder og begrænset plads til at organisere sio på.

Helt grei standard, kort vei til hovedgaten og resten av byen.

Et helt igennem perfekt hotel med udsigt over havnen, (måtte dog selv pudse vinduerne udvendig, så langt armene rakte). Rengøring ok, morgen buffet ok, reception super. Eneste minus var vinduerne på ydersiden. De lignede resultatet efter et mudderskred i stormvejr

An average hotel, with many remarks abouts its great view, but please remember that not all rooms of the hotel are on the 6th floor, and that you may get one of the rooms on the ground floow near the washing room (and sounds from the tumbler) and with a view to the hotels garbage.

Modernt hotell med enkel men smakfull inredning vilket ger en lyxig känsla. Enda negativa var att det var relativt lyhört ut till korridoren.

Nice clean newly build hotel. Centrally placed in Reykjavik, good service and with a spa in the basement.

The hotel is located just 5 minutes away from the main shopping street and 10 minutes max. from all the restaurants, pubs, etc... The panorama restaurant offers a stunning view on the harbor and far beyond. Rooms are comfortable (scandinavian design). Service was friendly and helpful. I had a great stay.

Rent og pent, men enkle rom. Pen restaurant som ikke var åpen. Virket uferdig. Hypermoderne. Resepsjonister som ikke er særlig behjelpelige. Generelt skuffet over service og at restauranten ikke var åpen. Fin utsikt.

Servicen ved skranken kunne forbedres men alt andet er i top. Der er rent og pænt alle vegne. Morgenmaden indeholder bl.a. frugt, mælkeprodukter, brød og pandekager, og alt det kan nydes i restauranten på 8. sal med en helt fantastisk udsigt. Hotellet ligger 3 minutter fra forretninger og restauranter.

Hotellets beliggenhet er ypperlig ved vannkanten i Reykjavik sentrum med gangavstand til "alt". Hotellets betjening var hyggelige og hjelpsomme og kvaliteten på rom og frokost var bra. Det eneste som trakk litt ned var romvasken. Både bad og rom var tilsynelatende rene ved ankomst, men at vinduene nesten ikke var til å se igjennom og et par døde mygg i vinduskarmen reduserte tilliten til renheten noe. Alt i alt et bra hotell med god service og fantastisk beliggenhet som kan anbefales.

Moderne, rent og pænt hotel tæt på centrum. Der er en byggeplads overfor som kan give lidt støj, men det generede nu ikke os så meget. God morgensmads restaurant med udsigt og solteresse. Absolut anbefalelsesværdigt.

detta hotell överträffade alla mina förväntningar, läget är perfekt i reykjavik gångavstånd till allt men ändå lite avskilt, rent och fräscht rum med mycket sköna sängar. Frukostbuffen har allt man kan önska sig för att bli mätt. Utsikten på 8:e vån när man äter frukost/miffag eller sitter på altanen är storslagen.

Svært serviceinnstilte, behjelpelige ansatte. Hotellet ligger veldig fint til. I åttende etasje spiser man frokost, med utsikt på havet og fjellet i bakgrunnen, og på en svær byggeplass nedenfor hotellet, i havnen ved vannkanten; Det skal bli Reykjaviks opera! Frokosten er like minimalistisk som hotellets utforming inne. Det ble dessverre ikke påfull av mat eller drikke før man ba om det. Og teposer kunne de dessverre ikke love å kunne skaffe i løpet av uken engang. Alt kan ha sammenheng med den økonomiske krisen på Island, og kanskje særlig for dette hotellet. Ingen gjest klage høytt! Men mange sukket.

Beliggenhet og utsikt fra Skybar mor havnen var flott, frokot med selvstekte vaffler er også et pluss, samt at hotellet var stilrent og elegant. Minus er små rom og miniatyr bad. Heller ikke helt fornøyd med servicen, da det tok lang tid å oppnå kontakt selv om vi var allene ved annkomst, og vennligheten uteble når vi først fikk hjelp.

Mycket bra service,trevlig personal, ligger centralt, fantastisk utsikt, god mat.

Dette hotellet gir det akkurat det bildene og teksten lover. Det er enkelt, men veldig stilrent og praktisk i forhold til Reykjavik exploring. Rommene er rene og fine og alt er relativt nytt. Sengene er forresten kjempegode! Dusjen er litt liten, det skal godt gjøres for en voksen person å få plass inn i den hvis man vil lukke kabinettet så det ikke spruter vann utover alt. Det fantes en isbitmaskin på gangen, som dessverre var i ustand da vi var der. Området rundt er ikke veldig pent, typisk havneområde. Men allikevel likte vi oss godt der fordi det er en stille sidegate til hovedgata. Man slipper altså bråk på natta, uten at man mister muligheten til å måtte gå i maks 3 minutter før man finner liv.

Sentralt hotell. Ikke ange fasiliteter på selve hotellet, men meget god frokost og hyggelig betjening. Kun to minutters gane unna handelegaten i Reykjavik. Meget god utsikt fra restauranten i åttende etg

Centralt lækkert hotel meget tæt på centrum. Flot udsigt fra restaurant. Rengøringspersonalet var desværre ikke gode til at fylde kaffe/the etc op på værl, men en bagatel. Fitness center mangler og flere lokale tv kanaler

Sentralt, moderne og veldig hyggelig hotell. Kjempeutsikt fra restauranten, og betjeningen var veldig hjelpsomme med booking av turer vi ville på. Anbefales!
