3 adults and a kid of 12 had a pleasant stay for 4 nights with good service. Restaurant had OK food and excellent service. The kid liked the hotel swimmingpool. We recommend the hotel as a good plain hotel

Loved: the updated and larger public guest areas, the shop and travel desk, the artist room overlooking the airport, the friendliness of the staff, the free shuttle into Reyjavik. Disliked: the loudness of some of the tours staying there in the public areas at times. Breakfast could get very crowded.

They need to upgrade their TV, computer hardware also the room was very hot.

Our room at Icelandair Hotel Loftleidir was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. We appreciated the that the shuttle from the airport went directly to the hotel and enjoyed the breakfast. However, the best part of our stay was the friendly staff. Thank you!

Don't get worried when you've arrived at the hotel because the building looks dated! This interior of the hotel has been renovated. The walk to the Reykjavik city centre from the hotel is probably around 25mins but because half of it you have to walk around the airfield which is quite unattractive, boring and WINDY, that walk seemed to have taken forever! But they do have free shuttle buses which take you to the city centre in 5mins so if you stick to their timetable, you should be fine. We have upgraded ourselves to a poet room which just adds a little extra touch to what could be a mundane, basic Scandinavian decor standard room. As the upgrade only cost us GBP8 extra - well worth the money!

We knew that this hotel would be far from downtown and the hotel's schedule for complimentary shuttle service to downtown was infrequent. The plus was that the Perlan (Saga Museum, etc.) was across the street, about a 10 minute hike up a small hill. When we first checked in, the elevator closest to our room was not working. When we got to our room, the power was out in our part of the hotel and in our room. When my fiance turned on the water faucet in the bathroom, the water was initially brown. We were on the third floor and decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator to get to the main floor. Once we entered the stairwell, we thought we were trapped - every doorknob on every floor was loose/broken. We had to go to the very bottom to exit and it just wasn't intuitive. It was certainly a frightening first hour at this hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful though (they helped schedule our airport shuttle pick-up). So staff and Perlan across the street were good things. Everything else was bad.

This is an older hotel, but well maintained. Rooms are European small, but we had a "Poet's Room, and it was very comfortable. Nice bath with thick, thirsty towels. Bed was great. Location is a good walk from the city center, but they have a free shuttle that runs several times a day to city center and return. We didn't eat in the dining room or use the pool and exercise facilities, but they looked very nice. We would certainly stay there again and recommend.

The Hotel Loftleidir is a really nice on the inside, (Lobby, restaurant, pool etc.) The rooms are small, typical of what you would expect in Europe. They are clean and fine for sleeping. The T.V. is lacking with only 4-5 channels. Location is somewhat okay. Most reviews I read prior to staying at this hotel complained about the distance to the city centre. This is somewhat true, we used a cab (there were 4 in our party) and that made it affordable. We booked 2 different tours and both picked us up directly at the hotel. There is a tour desk right in the lobby, which is super nice. Staff is friendly, and helpful. Internet (wireless) was expensive and we had multiple problems logging on/off. The hotel took the charge off our bill.

We got a great room rate for this hotel, easy to get there from the airport on the bus, friendly check in and even though the hotel doesn't look very exciting from the outside, our room was great...felt like an old library with the wood panelling and striped wall paper. The shuttle buses into town are definitely handy and we had dinner in the restaurant one night which was delicious. All in all, a good and cheap place to have as a base in Reykjavik.

Lovely hotel which was about 20min walking distance from the centre of the tourist district of the city. Felt further as most days were grey and raining, so walking was not pleasant. The walk is on foot paths but crossing several busy roads. Room nice and clean. Bathroom a little bit old but not unpleasant. Restaurant was very good. Excellent service, food well prepared etc. We ate off menu and buffet. Swimming pool, nice and well run but a little old and shabby. However, it was clean.

Location is near city cente but not in it, easy to get to major roads if you have car rental. Hertz 100 yards up the raod. Pool, sauna, jacuzzi small but good. Would defintely stay there again if I returned to Iceland, which i will!

A little bit out of the center (free infrequent shuttle available), this hotel is ugly from the outside but very nice inside. It was great value for money and the Art room upgrade was worth the extra. Shame about the staff - who never smiled once and were at points rude. Our special favourite was the shuttle bus driver who drove off leaving his 12 passengers standing on the kerbside waiting for him to open the doors. As one guest said to me 'there is no friendly way to explain that!'.

This hotel was further than I expected from the centre and a taxi cost approx £10 eachway, but then everything is expensive in Iceland. There is a free shuttle bus a few times a day from the hotel but the local buses were easy to use and there is a bus stop outside the hotel.The staff were very helpful and the cleaning, fresh linen and towels was good. They come around early to clean so put the 'do not disterb' sign up the night before if you want a lie-in! We did not have time to use the pool or sample the resturant as there was so much to explore in this interesting country, although compared to the prices for food in town the restaurant seemed to offer equivalent value for money. I would definately use this hotel again.

The room was large and clean - it was a shame not to have a bath in a 4 star hotel, and the complimentary hotel minibus from the city centre back to the hotel didnt turn up. On the whole, OK, but not really a 4 star experience

This hotel is a very European hotel. The hotel staff is very friendly and knowledgable. The free breakfast is more then I expected. It had everything from eggs and sauage to cereal. The pool was very disappointing, not up to American standards. You had to almost lay down in the hot tub to get any water. The free shuttle to downtown comes only every few hours and I ended up walking to town most of the time. The hotel bar was good, but service was very slow. Only one bartender doing both food and drink service. Service gets backed up. Over all I would recommend this hotel to others.

I thought the hotel was very expensive; however, I do not know how it compared to other hotels. We loved Iceland and the people there are very friendly; however, it was a much more expensive city/country to visit than I had anticipated. We changed our plans to limit our stay from 11 days to 5 and that was a smart move as we would have been bankrupt just paying for rental car, gasoline, lodging, and food. We did enjoy our stay and hope to come back and see the remainder of the island in the future. We had the best and most expensive meals we have eaten; however, the North Atlantic Char was the best seafood we have ever eaten! Thanks and we will see you again after we save our money.

Short transfer from airport - take the bus, much cheaper. Beautiful room. Ask for a room overlooking carpark not the runway. Its right next to Domestic airport runway, but it didn't bother me. Very comfortable. The hotel runs a free bus into town - perfect. There is reasonable car hire too. Hotel restaurant is very expensive, but so are restaurants. This hotel is slightly out of town, but with a hired car, its fine. Don't go by the look of the hotel - it looks dated, and weary, but inside its perfect. Reception are so helpful.If you don't like the first room you're given, ask for another one. It worked for me.

Nowhere did anything I read say it was an airport hotel that was far away from city center. While it was only a 25 minute walk, this is not really a walk you want to take when it is raining or dark. Plus, while the shuttle bus is regular, I would not say it is as frequent as you'd want if going back and forth to town is on your roster of things to do.

The service at this hotel was very good. They go out of their way to take care of their guest and the facilities are good. The free breakfast is very generous and the coffee is good. The hotel is not near the center of the city, though you can walk their in 20 to 30 minutes. They do have a free shuttle, but it doesn't run often enough or at the most convenient times. If you are looking to use this hotel as a base for the various tour packages of Iceland and they give you a good rate then it is a good place to stay. You might want to make sure that you get a room on the side facing away from the Reykjavik airport (note this is a small local airport, not the one you fly into from Europe or the US. That is Kefalik and it is 80 Km away.) The hotel is easily reached by a Reykjavik Excursions bus running from the airport to Reykjavik. Just buy your ticket at the booth near the curb.

As a traveler from the US, I was expecting to spend quite a bit on hotels in Iceland, but also expecting to get a little bit more out of my stay than what I got. The breakfast was great, and complimentary. The rooms were all clean and well maintained. The entire hotel was in great shape, but... Getting a double room only means its for a double occupancy, not a double bed. We ended up with two single beds in one room. The room was very small and very expensive. I would recommend this hotel if you could not find anything else, but would not go out of my way.

Needs new flooring in the rooms, cigerette smell. The lights in the bathroom are not good for for putting on makeup. better lighting in the room would also good. There was no news channel you could watch in the room.

Et bra sted å bo, god mat , herlige behandlinger i "skjønnhets-avdelinen" og praktisk med gratis skyttelbuss til byen.

Deler av hotellet renovert siden forrige besøk 1995, men særlig basseng med tilhørende fasiliteter trenger oppussing.

We stay at this hotel in six days( 14-20 aug. 2009) We had a plasant stay on this hotel that time we spent at Iceland. Helpful and friendly staff all the time. Very good resturant with Bufe for breakfast and dinner.Various food. Quiet hotel with good guest room standard. Accseptable prices.

This was a nice hotel near the city, a slow walk on 15-20 (around the domestic airport) minutes to the centerparts of town. And you can't hear anything from the airport, so that's good. Rooms were clean with basic hotel furnutire (booked the standard room, outher versions were avalible). The in house information system/Pay TV is totally out of date and need a update, but it works. If you want to stay in and eat I can really recomend the hotel resturant, great food for resonable prize.

Das Hotel liegt direkt neben dem nationalen Flughafen, was aber keine Auswirkung auf die nächtliche Ruhe gehabt hat. Allerdings wollten wir uns am letzten Tag ein Frühstück auf dem Zimmer gönnen und daraus wurde leider nichts, weil unsere Frühstücksbestellung ignoriert wurde. Positiv zu erwähnen ist der kostenlose Shuttleservice ins Stadtzentrum und zum Shopping-Center und zurück jeweils zu festgelegten Zeiten.

Hotell Loftleidir lå litt utenfor selve byen, og det var et kvarter å gå inn til sentrum. Dette var en fin tur i fint vær, men kjedelig når det regnet og blåste (noe som kan skje på Island:). Rommet var fint og rent. Betjeningen i resepsjonen var jevnt over småsure, og det virket som de aldri hadde tid til å hjelpe selv om vi var de eneste som sto der. Neste gang vil jeg nok velge et annet hotell.

Lækkert hotel med alt hvad et hotel skal have. Selvom det er midt i en lufthavn er vi ikke generet af støj - der er helt roligt. Fin gåafstand til byen, hvis ikke lige de gratis hotelbusser passer - de kører flere gange i løbet af dagen til og fra byen.

Overraskande at frukost ikkje var inkludert i den oppgitte og førehandsbetalte prisen. Positivt med gratis busstransport til sentrum, sjølv om bussen gjekk sjeldan.

Hotellet kan trygt anbefales god mat og tidlig frokost fra klokkka halv fem om morgen til klokka ti

Dersom man reiser til Island for opplevelser, er dette hotellet et godt utgangspunkt. Det ligger like utenfor sentrum (ca. 5 min. med bil), og ikke langt fra hovedveien både inn og ut av Reykjavik. I gåavstand ligger panoramarestauranten Perlan, samt en bowlinghall. Hotellet har et oppvarmet badebasseng og boblebad i kjelleren. Om man vil ta seg en tur ned i sentrum, så har hotellet en gratis shuttle buss som går flere ganger om dagen. Vi velger gjerne samme hotell neste gang vi reiser til Island.

Stort plus för den uppvärmda poolen samt jacuzzin. För övrigt bra, enkel standard utan att vara i överkant. Fina möjligheter till träning med gym samt motionsspår i närheten. Överlag trevligt med bra service till utflykter m.m.

Et stykke fra sentrum , men helt perfekt for en som ikke er redd for å gå, Shuttlebuss er evt et bra alternativ til føttene. Nær Rekjaviks strand.

Helt greit hotell med svært godt kjøkken og gode senger på rommene. Dessuten svært rimelig.

Moderne,konfortabelt,venligt personale,god mad,lidt langt fra centrum,men gode transportmuligheder. Kommer gerne igen.Pool og spa.

Var der for 25 år siden. Valgte det igen. Det er næsten det samme, men dog moderniseret. Stilen: Lidt klassisk. Men megt fint, pænt og rent. Venlig og hjælpsom betjening. Morgenmad ikke incl., men prisen værd. Velfungerende trådløst internet. Senge, stole, bad: perfekt. Efter en tur til Akureyri valgte vi igen Loftleidir. Fordi det er godt.

The women at reception looked so miserable to the point of being unfriendly (probably couldn't crack a smile to save their life - it did make me laugh!) but they did their job, gave us the key and told us what room number we were in. Unfortunately the hotel is slightly out of the way with an infrequent (but free) shuttle service to town but very good value for money, especially with the 3 for 2 offer. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, hotel pretty quiet but there were planes taking off from Reykjavik airport at 8 am in the morning, now this might not be early to some but it's early to me when on holiday. Try and get a room on the side of the carpark. The food in the restaurant was pretty pricey for what you got but then again, you don't have to eat there and Perlan is very close by, not a lot more expensive and a damn bit better. All in all a pleasant experience.

receptionen fick det att lata som at frukostbuffen ingick, men nar man sen kommer dit inser man att det var fel. har aldrig varit med om att buffen inte ingick nar mna bor pa ett 4stjarnigt hotell. inte for att buffen heller var vard de 110kronorna..

Slo til på tilbud, 3 netter betal for 2, som ble en hyggelig pris pr. natt. Hotellet ligger et lite stykke fra sentrumskjernen, men enkelt å få tak i taxi - som også er billig - slik at avstanden ikke blir noe problem. Hotellprisen inkluderte gratis internett. Husk å si fra om dette dersom du skal benytte deg av det. Hvis ikke forlanger hotellet betaling. De som jobbet i resepsjonen var for øvrig ikke de mest servicevillige og hyggelige vi har møtt, men resten av de ansatte virket ok.

Hotellet ligger en liten bit utanför stan och också nära deras nationella flygplats. Efter problem med nycklar som inte fungerade och ostädat rum fick jag en ippgradering utan extra kostnad på rummet, så jag är nöjd över lösningen. De har en gratis shuttlebus som tar en fram och tillbaka till centrum kostnadsfritt. jag rekommenderar detta hotell, tänk dock på att internetuppkoppling är väl dyrt, 5000isk för en timme och 1000isk för 3 timmar. Känns lite väl oskäligt.
